Introducing Aladdin at the Consett Theatre

Aladdin Consett Empire TheatreFirm family and local favorites are dusting off their wigs and heels to take part in the CBS production of Aladdin in January 2013.

Vin Welch (father of Denise Welch) will appear as the lovable rogue Widow Twanky, and Hughie Malone will appear as the Genie.  Both are well renowned in the local area for their performances and always get a great reception from the audience.

Hughie Malone played the role of the Dame for more than 25 years is looking forward to taking the role of the Genie, after his role of the Giant in Jack the Beanstalk in January 2012 was immensely successful and after playing the Magic Mirror in Snow White the year previous.

Pantomime Director Virginia Aken said “these two performers are real troopers and it is great for our young actors to have the opportunity to work with them both, it is going to be a great show”

This much loved children’s traditional story is given a typical pantomime twist which will leave you with a big smile as you leave the theatre.  This full of fun pantomime, includes songs, drama and comedy which will be a real treat for all the family.

The cast will feature Luke Henderson as Aladdin, Phillip Richardson as Wishee Washee and Paul Stafford as Abanazar and Amy Hocking as the Spirit of the Ring.  Mother and daughter play the Chinese Policemen (Vicki Harrop and Lynn Johnson) providing the comedy capers and good old fashioned fun and frolics.
