Last year saw the first North East Retro Gaming event. Hundreds of people NERG 2014turned up over the two days and made use of the wide variety of retro gaming systems, with various traders set up to sell gaming-related merchandise and even some retro games themselves.

Now NERG 2014 is just around the corner and it’s shaping up to be bigger and better than ever, with twice as many machines, hundreds more tickets, and a series of competitions, including: Chuckie Egg Challenge, Rave Faster fastest lap, Bomberman, and Street Fighter II. Plus there’s a special guest making an appearance this year: Steffen Peddie – aka Big Keith from popular TV show, Hebburn.

Another new addition for 2014 is the NERG Juniors. Here children can complete challenges related to the different attractions at the event. This will help educate the youth of today on how video gaming has changed over the years whilst earning their prize for completing the challenges. Places for NERG Juniors are limited so be sure to get yourself along early to ensure your little ones don’t miss out.

900 tickets are available for both days again this year, 600 people attended Saturday and 400 Sunday in 2013 however tickets are expected to sell out soon for 2014. The venue is the same, Gateshead International Stadium, a 33m by 43m sports hall – doors open at 10:30am both days and close at 7pm Saturday and 5pm Sunday – with almost twice as many people the atmosphere will be brilliant.

Tickets are on sale now but they’re going quick, to get your hands on them visit the NERG website at: northeastretrogaming.com/tickets
