Forth those looking for a family outing on Boxing Day or New Year’s Day why not head down to the DLI Museum or Durham Art Gallery.
The DLI Museum is one of the North East’s finest military history museums. It details the story of the most famous County Regiments in the British Army. More importantly, it tells the story of ordinary people who lived extraordinary lives.
Durham Art Gallery is County Durham’s largest modern art gallery with an exciting schedule of contemporary exhibitions.
Both the DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery are offering free admission on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
The Durham City venue is open from 10.30am to 4pm on both days and is waiving admission charges for the festive bank holidays.
Children of all ages can enjoy the family-friendly Generation Air exhibition at the art gallery.
The DLI is exhibiting Outbreak 1914: The Durham Light Infantry Goes to War.
Visitors can also pop into the DLI Coffee Shop for some warm beverages and a slice of mince pie.
