Then please come aboard our mobile library full of French books!!IMG_3406small

My name is Nathalie Paris, I am French but have been a resident in Consett for nearly 17 years now so it feels like home! Last year I decided to give up my full-time job teaching secondary languages to work part-time teaching primary languages, which has been great fun! However, I also wanted to do something with the hundreds of French books which I own… hence the mobile library!

We got the ex-council vehicle at the end of January and have been working on it since; we hope you like the look of it as it is now ready to welcome children and adults alike! It made its first public appearance on the Tesco car park on 23rd April for World Book Night; its second outing was at Shotley Bridge Nursery School Ltd on Tuesday 12th May and it has so far been booked to travel to Pelton, Newcastle, Washington… but also Richmond and Doncaster!! We would love to work more with our local schools and communities though hint hint!DSCN1031 (2)small

So what do we do? We can visit schools from nursery to colleges; we invite the children/pupils to come on the mobile library, have a story read to them in French then do some fun activities relating to it! This can involve our custom-made puppet theatre and 50 puppets too! In addition to this, we lend books out to the public. We are passionate about books as well as languages and believe that we can encourage children to read more and improve their literacy skills with our activities!
