Cycling in ConsettConsett is a great place to be if you want to get out and about and see the countryside. With a great selection of walking routes around the area you can spend a day visiting the beautiful countryside which surrounds us. There are many ways in which to see the countryside, but the best by far is on two wheels during a warm, sunny day. Not only is cycling is a great form of exercise, can also be a great way to have a relaxing cruise through some of our most beautiful landscapes.

One of the best routes for an easy ride around Consett is to head past the Terra Novalis statues and head down the Waskerly Way. This route can be considered a gentle route and has some great things to see when on your way. The famous Houndsgill viaduct is a great place to stop off at during your jaunt out. The view of the valley looks amazing and you can really appreciate the natural beauty which the North East has to offer.

Exercise is important in today’s world as people are becoming less and less active which is having a big impact on people’s health.  Getting out and exercising can have a significant impact on your health. Cycling is a fantastic way in which to lose a few pounds whilst getting out and about in the countryside in the local area.

Consett is situated in an area of great natural beauty with a number of different cycle routes which both showcase the area in its best light. The Derwent walk takes you northwards along the Red Kite Trail where some of the rare birds of prey have been breeding for a number of years whilst the Waskerly Way is another great route which heads across the great expanse of the moors.  Getting out on your bike is not only a great way to stay fit but a fantastic opportunity to see the lesser travelled roads of the local area.
