Newcastle united have done what some have deemed impossible and beaten the current Champions League holders Chelsea. This new look Newcastle side had seen good Moussa Sissoko toonfortunes recently getting their first away win against Aston Villa at the start of the week. After going behind Newcastle pilled the pressure on Chelsea to allow new signing Moussa Sissoko to score two goals giving Newcastle the win.  On a day where Newcastle would have to be at their best they well and truly delivered. With a full strength squad to choose from Alan Pardew looked to take control of the game from the first whistle.

With the game going end to end during the first half it was on the 41st minute when Newcastle fan favourite Jonas Guttierez was picked out by a great cross from Santon to allow him to get the opening goal of the game with a skilful header past Petr Cech. After the restart things didn’t go all of the home side’s way. Chelsea made up for their first half mistakes with two awe inspiring goals. First came from England legend Frank Lampard with a fantastic shot which left Tim Krul truly beaten. Shortly after Torres set up a peach of a goal for Juan Mata curled into the top left corner.

Newcastle hadn’t had a comeback win in 27 months so you could of expected the game to end at 2-1. This wasn’t the case. Newcastle rallied and played some of their best attacking football this season to attempt to reduce the one goal deficit. Yoan Gouffran made a great break forcing Cech into a big save but his parry dropped the ball to the feet of new boy Moussa Sissoko. With a classy finish Newcastle were now level with Chelsea with only a few minutes left to go.  Newcastle didn’t look like one point was enough and kept the pressure up.

In the 90th minute the ball landed to the feet of Moussa Sissoko at the edge of the box to drive the ball into the back of the net. The team celebrated as if they had just won the FA Cup after a Sylvain Marveaux initiated the play to set up Sissoko’s screamer. The city of Newcastle will be alive tonight as this win cements their intent for the rest of the season. To stay up and do it in style.
