Hello everyone and welcome to the March edition of the Consett Magazine. With the wintry weather hopefully behind us it’s just a matter of time before spring starts to arrive.editorial We have endured one of the coldest Februaries which most haven’t forgotten about yet, as the snow just kept on coming. That’s all behind us now as we move into the beautiful month of March. The 20th of March sees the official start of Spring as we move away from the arctic winds and intense cold as life all around us starts to bloom. There are a lot of things to celebrate this month with Mothering Sunday falling on the 10th. Remembering the things that mothers do is important. No matter how old you are your mother will always be there to extend a helping hand. Make a fuss and be sure she has a great day. Along with Mother’s Day, we have the celebration of the Patron Saint of Ireland. This day of Irish celebrations has carried across the Irish Sea and is now a popular day for people across the globe. There’s a lot more to St Patrick’s Day than drinking Irish whisky and stout down at your local. There is a wealth of history to be found to the west which we should learn more about before having our yearly Paddy’s Day tipple. The end of the month brings with it the Christian festival of Easter. The crucifixion of Christ is one of the most important stories in the Christian faith.
