Newcastle United are getting ready for the away leg of the last 16 of the Europa League against Russian opposition Anji Makhachkala. Travelling all the way to Russia, NewcastleNewcastle United Toon United will be looking to get a vital away goal against this up and coming outfit managed by veteran Guus Hiddink. This tie will be an interesting game due to the limited knowledge of the Russian side and the sub zero temperatures the players will have to endure when out on the pitch.

Anji played German team Hannover in the round of 32 and came through with a 4-2 aggregate lead after the two legs. Newcastle played Ukrainian side Metalist Karkhiv and came away with a 1 – 0 win due to a Shola Ameobi penalty. Hiddink talked about Newcastle United’s chances in the competition and spoke highly of the players Newcastle United have at their disposal. These possible mind games need to be taken with a pinch of salt as Anji currently have the legendary Samuel Eto in their squad earning a reported £330,000 a week before tax! Newcastle United’s highest paid player is currently Fabricio Colocinni who earns around £60,000.

One surprise addition to the Newcastle squad was the inclusion of potential wonderkid Adam Campbell.  The 17 year old from the North East is acting as cover on the bench for the ill Papiss Cisse. This means that Shola Ameobi will be starting for Newcastle United after some good performances in recent games. This appearance tonight will take the legendary Makem Slayer to the same number of European apps as Alan Shearer taking him to second highest in the club’s history. Jonas Guttierez will also not feature in tonight’s fixture due to a knee injury. On the other hand Hatem Ben Arfa may well be starting after 10 weeks sidelined with a serious injury.

What do you think the final score will be tonight over in Russia? Have your say below.
