On the 4th of May at Leadgate Methodists Church there will be a big cake bake to help raise money for the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS). This week the NDCS are Big bake off poster NDCSrunning the big cake bake week to get people in the kitchen making tasty treats to help raise money for this important and noble charity.  A local boy named Alfie and his mother Danielle are getting involved in the big cake bake to help the charity which has supported Alfie since he was diagnosed with profound deafness. The NDCS have been amazing helping Danielle and Alfie giving them useful advice and encouragement through what must be tough times.

Between 10am and 11:30am on Saturday the 4th of May, there will be one amazing bake sale to raise money for the Charity. It will be a great event to go along to, learn some more about what the NDCS does for people with hearing and deafness problems and help raise money for a deserving charity. At the bake sale you will be able to purchase a number of sweet treats and also enter a raffle to win a special themed cake on the day. Be sure to get there early or you may miss out on all the best cakes.

Around 108,000 people between the ages of 16 and 60 in the UK suffer from profound deafness whilst another 20,000 children aged 0 – 15 who also suffer from the same problem. Hearing issues are not uncommon and many people across the UK have to live their lives with reduced hearing capabilities. The government in these times of austerity are trying to save some money by cutting services for deaf children to save money. Families with deaf children need this support and help to continue to live a normal life and reducing this fund would have grave consequences for a number of families across the country.
