The Consett Spring Event is being sponsored by The Derwent Valley Partnership.
The event will take place on Middle Street in Consett on Saturday the 1st June 2013 at 10:30am. The event is expected to be on until 2:30pm.
On offer will be a range of free activities such as balloon modelling, a roaming magician, family treasure trail and face painting. The family treasure trail will be offering a prize draw for £25 worth of Maddison’s Coffee Shop vouchers.
Musical entertainment will also be provided by the Newcastle All Stars Steel Orchestra, a local brass band with some morris dancing.
I Have a letter to my Great Grandfather Sam Ramsden from his relative Sarah Ramsden. In the letter she mentions that Ruby had taken over (maybe from Mabel) as caretaker of the Avenue Methodist church. I dont have the date of the letter other than December. It all mentions that Edwin had taken over ‘the printing works. Sams brother Allan Ramsden was a well know photographer of the time – I have a book of his describing many of his exploits all around the vilages of Consett. I welcome any feedback from anyone about knowledge of any of the people and places I mention I have much more really interesting photographs and poems he wrote about the area.
