The Derwent Valley Partnership has recently announced that a total of £40,000 has been made available for local community groups who are in need of funding to support DVAAP Funding Eventtheir endeavours. This is a huge opportunity for a number of passionate local groups to get involved and help raise funds for the future. Groups can apply for grants from £1000 up to a maximum of £5000 to help with costs for a number of different project criteria.

Groups who deal with employment and regeneration, activities for children and young people, local environment and street cleanliness, health and wellbeing and communication are all in with a shot of being awarded a significant amount of funding.  All you have to do is to be sure to apply before the Friday the 13th of September.

Once the application process has been dealt with, it will be down to the people of Consett to choose who they believe should be awarded the funding. This will happen at the St. Patrick’s Church Hall in Consett on Saturday 16th November where groups will be displaying their project information whilst the public make their choices on how the money is to be spent.  It’s up to the groups themselves to help publicise the voting to get as many local residents involved in the voting process.

For any community group in the Consett area this is a big chance to secure funding to help move things to the next level in 2014. Be sure to get involved in this local project before the deadline of the 13th of September to be in with a chance of gaining some much needed funding for your local cause.

To apply, contact the Derwent Valley AAP on 03000 260725 or give them an email at DVAAP@durham.gov.uk to get your group in on the action.
