Terri has been riding horses since she was able to fit into a saddle. Her passion first started at four years old when she started down the path of regular weekly riding lessons TM Equine Servicesand by helping out at her local riding school.

Terri started working for John Gibson (John is a renowned local horse breeder) at the weekends when she was twelve or thirteen years old.. It was at this time when Terri learned how to deal with young horses and stallions. After her time with John came to an end due to the foot and mouth outbreak, she went onto work at stables in nearby Lanchester. Terri got the experience she wanted from this busy riding stables, she learned the process of backing and riding young and competition horses. Upon receiving a BHS Stage One qualification, Terri began teaching others to ride and look after horses, this is something which Terri seemed to have a real talent for.

Terri then moved down to Norfolk for 5 years and worked at a variety of yards from private yards to large equestrian centres where she was backing and riding away youngsters, retraining ‘problem’ horses and dealing with top competition horses, and colts. Terri then began to work and live on a private yard where she was in charge of looking after and teaching 10 horses. This great experience has given Terri a keen eye for understanding horses and teaching them on schooling days, while also taking horses to competitions.

“After been around horses my whole life and having the opportunity to work on different yards with very knowledgeable people its has allowed me to pick up a wide range of horse handling skills and techniques.  I understand that every horse is unique and very rarely does one method fit all.”

Terri has recently come back to Consett where she started her career in the equine industry and is now running her own business “Terri Marshall Equine Services”.
