Bonfire Night is a huge tradition here in the United Kingdom as a means of Bonfire Night Safetyremembering the acts of treason by Guy Fawkes in November of 1604. He and his fellow conspirators planned to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London using their devious cloak and dagger plan to get rid of the government. Now 409 years later, we still remember these acts of treason every year with one of the most colourful and exciting events on the calendar. When you are using fireworks this November 5th, it is important to keep safe whilst setting off your rockets.

One thing you should be aware of if you are looking to set up a loud and proud fireworks display is you should be considerate of any pets in the house. Fireworks and dogs generally don’t mix. The loud noises can really have an effect on a dog and could cause some distress. Make sure someone is in the house with the dog to help keep it calm during the fireworks.

Another important tip to remember when setting off fireworks is to stand well back. Fireworks are made of gunpowder which is still used today as a potent explosive and propellant for bullets. If one detonates early or travels in the wrong direction it could cause some serious to you and those around you. By staying as far back as you possibly can you can avoid any serious injuries.

Our final firework safety tip is pretty self explanatory. Don’t play with fireworks. This is very dangerous and extremely stupid. Only use fireworks as the original manufacturer intended or you could seriously hurt yourself. Countless people each year burn themselves playing with fireworks and you don’t want to be one of them. Just be sensible with your fireworks and be safe.

When all is said and done, Bonfire Night is a night of celebration and wonder. Don’t be an idiot but enjoy yourself.
