The Consett, Blackhill and Shotley Bridge stage society are getting ready for theircbs stage and musical society  2 upcoming performances of Cinderella and then The Full Monty in the New Year. Christmas pantomimes are a national tradition in the UK and are a great attraction for the whole family to enjoy. From January 20th 2014 until the 25th of January at 7:45pm the CBS Musical and Stage Society will be at the Empire Theatre strutting their stuff on the stage. On the Saturday there will also be a matinee showing of the panto starting at 2:15pm.

The CBS Musical and Stage Society are a passionate of amateur drama fans ranging in age from 6 to 60 who love nothing more than getting on the stage and indulging in their passion. If the panto isn’t your sot of thing then no worry. From Tuesday 10th of June through till Saturday 14th the CBS group will be returning to the Empire Theatre to perform their rendition of the adult British classic The Full Monty.

This show is set to be a great display with a heap of comedy added to really bring the performance to life. If you are looking to see some great amateur dramatic exploits at the Empire then why not take a look at what the CBS are doing.

Since starting out in 1945, the CBS have a long history of performing in the local area and getting regular people to embrace the stage. Since performing “The Mikado” in 1946, the society has gone from strength to strength and is still here 63 years down the line. With their pantomime and adult show every year they constantly push the boundaries of dramatic performances whilst having a great time in the process.

  2. I was in a couple of productions in the late 1960s and initially started to just help backstage, but ended up as a cast member in Rose Marie. It was very interesting.
