Calendar Girls Revisited

TV stars including Sarah Millican, Warwick Davies and Tim Healy have joined forces with the Castleside Calendar Girls as their fund-Warwick Calendar Girls raising efforts draw to a close.

With only a few calendars left to sell, the Girls have decided to raffle a batch of signed copies in the run up to Christmas.

Actor Warwick Davies was the first to sign his copy of the calendar after meeting ‘Miss March’ Heather Griffiths recently. Geordie comedienne Sarah Millican was next and wrote her own personal message on the calendar she signed.

Paul Daniels, Les Dennis, Joe McElderry, Tim Healy, Denice Welch, Hairy Biker Si King and cricketer Paul Collingwood are also among the stars helping the Girls with their £10,000 target.

More than £8000 has already been raised since the group of 11 ladies stripped off for a series of shots taken in and around their quiet County Durham village in the summer.

Proceeds from the calendar sales and each £2 ticket will go to Willow Burn Hospice, Cancer Research UK and the Friends of Castleside Village Hall. They are available to buy online at www.castleside.net or by calling 07745 826920.

The tickets are also available at the Calendar Girls’ Christmas tea this weekend.

“We wanted to say a big ‘Thank You’ to all the local residents and business people who’ve supported us over the last six months,” Heather explained. “We’ve had such a great response and are so proud of what we’ve achieved and so we think a little bit of a celebration is in order.”

Join the girls for mulled wine, tea, cakes and mince pies this Sunday, December 15 at 2pm-4pm in the Village Hall on Drover Road, Castleside.
