Venture Buses Launched

A new series of Venture buses has been launched in the Derwentside area and introduced to the existing Venture routes over the past week, Pat Glass MP attended one of the launch events in Consett. Venture buses link Consett, Stanley, Lanchester, and Castleside with regular services throughout the week, excluding Sundays.

Pat Glass, North West Durham MP, was at Consett bus station during a launch event and had this to say about the new buses: “I have seen these buses on the road in Consett and I am really pleased at how good they look. I have received Venture Buses Launched in Consettpositive comments from constituents and having been on board one of the new venture buses this morning I am pleased the local fleet has been upgraded.”

The 12 new buses have the latest technology in low emission engines, announcements and display screens informing passengers about the next stop. These investments in new buses  come as huge changes are seen in the area with businesses like B&Q, Tesco, and Next opening new branches in the centre of Consett.

Finance director for Go North East, Colin McPherson, believes that bus routes are integral to the economic success of an area: “Consett is becoming increasingly vibrant and we’re very proud to be investing £1.4million in new buses for the area. We know just how vital buses are to help create a successful economy by making journeys to work, shopping and leisure easier.”

Buses on the Venture route are wheelchair and buggy friendly with frequent services throughout the day and great value fares such as traveling all day for £3.30. For more information on bus times and prices can be found at http://www.simplygo.com or by calling 0845 6060260.
