Local boxing legend Glenn McCrory is set to land back in Consett on the 7th February to co-host a special talk with his brother Gary McCrory. This date will mark his 25th anniversary of winning the IBF cruiserweight world championship in 1989.

The event will be held at the Royal Derwent Hotel, which was where McCrory trained before his title fight back in the day. To kick things off there will be a full round of boxing to weGlenn McCrorylcome the Consett fighters home, who travelled to Las Vegas last year for a dominant performance against their American counterparts.

In attendance will be Alan Walker, who originally trained Glenn for the world title; and John Gibson who will be representing The Journal/Chronicle. All money raised at this event will go to Gary McCrory’s Consett YMCA Amateur Boxing Club to help support its endeavours.
