The ‘Strange Day Out’ competition
Primary school children have been given the chance to win a computer for their school as part of a competition. To win it children must design a ‘Say no to Strangers’ mural that will be featured in the book ‘Jet and Ben’s Strange Day Out’ written by Steve Arkley for the Durham Agency Against Crime.
The book which characters two community police dogs, is not quite finished yet, but the centre pages have been kept for the children to enter their images for the chance to win. All in all there will be six winning entries, but only one will be winning the big prize.
To be in with the chance of winning, the artwork must be based around the six main rules of stranger danger; which would include not talking to strangers, and getting into unknown cars.
The designs must be related to everything about stranger danger, but based around different themes. The best one will win the donated computer for their school from Durham Agency Against Crime.
All schools have been asked to design the rules on A4 paper using coloured pencils and all entries must be sent to PSCO Kerr – PSCO Kerr, Dog Support Unit, The Barns, Enterprise City, Spennymoor, County Durham, DH16 6JF – and will then be submitted by Friday, February 28. Jet and Ben’s Strange Day Out will be used by PCSO Kerr when she visits schools.
