Round two of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series took place in Durham once again, Britain’s top cyclists competed in what is considered the Pearl Izumi - 2013 Imagemost difficult part of the Tour  – narrow streets, sharp corners, and the notorious cobbled sections make this one of the most challenging legs. Durham County Council hosted the event in partnership with Sweetspot race organisers, and with sponsorship from Pearl Izumi. The event took place on Tuesday 27 May, with a festival-like atmosphere kicking off from just after 4pm thanks to live music provided throughout the area.

The tourism and publicity brought to the Durham area spreads the spirit of the event throughout the many shops, accommodation, and tourism hotspots. Professional cyclists aside, there are plenty of routes for amateurs to enjoy as well; not to mention the C2C routes across the North East, including the Durham Dales section and the north sea cycle route.
