Entries are now open for the County Durham Environment Awards 2014.

The County Durham Environment Awards is run by the County Durham Environment Partnership and aims to promote and celebrate communities, projects, and groups that do their part to maintain the environment, as well as giving special attention to those that work to actively improve and enhance wherever possible. Anyone is able to get in touch to shout about something they might have done to benefit the environment, as long as it was done within thecounty-durham-environment-awards-2014 County Durham area – local groups, schools, individuals, and organisations are all welcomed.

Last year’s County Durham Environment Awards received a huge number of entries and awards were distributed across an incredibly wide range of volunteers, organisations, and school groups. Just some of the winners last year included; Heart of Durham, Edmondsley Primary School, and the East Durham Heritage Group – with commendations going to yet more local groups such as the EDDY People Project, Shotley Bridge Junior School, and the County Durham Residents Association.

There’s a new position in the awards this year, ‘Places and Spaces’. The categories for this year are as follows:

  • Built Environment
  • Climate Change
  • Community Partnership
  • Craftsmanship

  • Natural Environment
  • Places and Spaces

As you can see there is an incredibly wide range of categories that anyone can enter, so if you think that you might have done something positive for the environment that warrants an award from the County Durham Environment Partnership then you can apply by following the link below and viewing the ‘How to Enter’ section, follow the application steps and complete the booklet for a chance to win.
