Prince Bishop Veterinary Hospital

Vets often suggest that clients treat their pets with flea-killing products as a routine.

Why is that?

Most cases of flea infestation we see, whether it is on a cat or a dog, are, in fact, cat fleas. The thing to remember is that, for every flea we see on a pet there are at least 100 breeding in your homes, and once they are there it is so much more difficult to eliminate them.

There are very efficient and cost effective products available now – monthly spot-ons or tablets are probably the best and many vets will have a healthcare plan which incorporates regular use of such a product.

Prevention is always better than cure.
