Bored in the Run up to Christmas and the New Year?

Admit it. When it comes to Christmas you’re like a kid on… well, Christmas morning. The excitement of the season is upon you, but first, you’ve got to get through those super-long days at work, the cold, dark evenings and moments where your bank account isn’t exactly looking healthy. So, what can you do to fill those slow days in the build up to Christmas and New Year? Don’t worry, we’ve got your back!

Have Fun Online

You’ve got so many options on this front, so you’ll be spoiled for choice. When the weather is as cold as it has been, it makes sense to opt to stay indoors, really! If you’re looking for a bit of a distraction, online casino gaming is all the rage and very much fitting with the glitz and glam of the season. William Hill has an array of casino favourites to choose from, and they even offer a £50 welcome bonus. What’s more, their website offers live casino options, which means that you can connect via live-streaming video to a real-life dealer, who will provide you with a very realistic casino experience – you’ll feel like you’re sitting at a Las Vegas blackjack table.

Prefer other online activities? No problem. The lead up to Christmas isn’t really a great time for online shopping, but come Christmas Day, you can shop to your heart’s content in the sales! Plus, you’ll be driving the economy online, so that next year, retail workers may get their wish of not having to go to work on Boxing Day.

Volunteer

Christmas is a fantastic time to give something back. A lot of us don’t know how lucky we are, with over 550,000 people needing to rely on food banks last year. There are even more people (such as the elderly or very sick) who spend Christmas alone, and then you have many children in hospitals, too. If you’re interested in volunteering around this time of year, it’s very popular, so you should do some research and find out who has spots available. You could pass out food at a food bank, collect toys for children, or even just do some crucial, behind-the-scenes admin. You’ll be giving up something valuable – your time – to help others in need. But you’ll really see the difference you’re making, and that’s reward enough.

Festive Activities

You don’t need to limit your Christmas celebrations to your workplace’s do! There are loads of local events you can head down to, even if it’s just at the local pub. If you fancy doing something a little more exciting, why not make a special trip down to London for the season? You could do the last of your Christmas shopping and visit Winter Wonderland, whilst you’re at it. It’s a brilliantly festive experience set in Hyde Park, and it lives up to its name completely. It’s fun for all the family, or with friends or a partner as well. If that’s a bit too far to go so close to Christmas, most towns have absolutely incredible Christmas markets these days, which are perfect for enjoying some mulled wine or finding some last-minute quirky gifts.

This time of year should be really special; a time to relax and spend time with our families. But, we’re so often swept up in the theatrics of the day itself that we forget to enjoy every moment. Use the days leading up to Christmas as a blessing rather than as empty days to let pass by before the big day is here.
