New business boost for Consett Manufacturing Firm

Local firm, Lamplas (Durham) Ltd, based in Castleside near Consett has ended the year in a strong position, after securing a long term contract with Swift Group who manufacture caravans, holiday homes and motorhomes.   As a result, the company has created a total of 15 new jobs since September last year and is looking forward to an even more successful 2017 due to the development of a healthy pipeline of new business contracts.

Keith Siddle, Operations Director, says “This is a great contract for Lamplas as it builds on our success in supplying shower cubicles into the holiday home market, we have been able to recruit great local people, we have made 5 internal promotions, and we’re taking on another apprentice.  We have also just secured a further contract to supply shower cubicles into another holiday home manufacturer, commencing summer 2017 and will be looking to recruit further employees over the coming months.”

Andrea McGuigan, Business Development Manager for Business Durham added “Business Durham has been working closely with Lamplas for a number of years and we are delighted to hear their good news.  The company has continued to innovate and develop new products and they deserve the success they have achieved.  We will continue to support them in the future and look forward to the next year ahead.”

Lamplas are also active members of CDEMN (County Durham Engineering and Manufacturing Network) and showcased the self-contained shower unit at Oktoberfest 2016.  CDEMN help support the local engineering and manufacturing community by providing access to both new business opportunities and also a tremendous local support network.

Ben Gilhespy, Director of Operations for CDEMN said “Lamplas have an excellent reputation built over many years and are a real testament to the entrepreneurial spirit that we see in the regions manufacturers.  We are proud to support the business and see them grow from strength to strength, increasing their workforce accordingly.  This is a true local success story.”
