Dear Consett Magazine Readers. March 2017 is upon us already!

Our front cover this month is a spectacular shot of Wingate Quarry Nature Reserve taken by Geroge Ford. If you’d like to see your Consett image on the front of next month’s magazine then simply send it to (please also include where the photo was taken).
In this month’s articles, Local historian Brian Harrison recounts the tragic demise of Jonathan Garbutt. Lorraine Weightman looks back at her days in Consett with “All Saints” On page 6 we have a fantastic story of one man’s mission to raise £3000 by biking 300 miles in 3 days.
Remember, if you’d like to get involved with the magazine you can email us on, message us on Facebook just search: “Consett Magazine” or
visit for more info.
Aachen is this month’s place to go on page 10. Germany’s westmost city, on the border of
Belgium and The Netherlands. Back in January we held a Facebook Competition where we
asked members of the community to nominate and vote for their chosen local business by liking, sharing, and tagging them in a Facebook post. The winner was of course “Mr. Mixologist” You can see what he’s been up to and what lies ahead for the Consett cocktail
connoisseur on page 13.

Want to learn something new this March 2017? Steel Town Music are offering a FREE guitar lesson on Page 15. Don’t forget to bring the coupon.
Best wishes,
