A care home in Stanley last week had a visit from a very special guest – or at least someone who bears an uncanny resemblance to her.

Last Friday, the residents at HC-One’s Stoneleigh Care Home got to meet TV’s most famous matriarch Mrs Brown – or rather lookalike Brian Lewis, a great-grandad from Leadgate, who popped into the home in full Mrs Brown costume.

An ex-carer himself, Brian knows a couple of the home’s staff members. The staff and residents were all delighted by Brian’s visit, with many doing a double-take due to Brian’s amazing resemblance to the TV character.

Brian made sure he visited all the residents who were in their rooms then he sat in the lounge with the rest for a chat, a slice of cake and cup of tea.

Residents Sadie Findley and Mary Teasdale – both huge fans of Mrs Brown’s Boys – were very impressed with Brian’s take on the star. Another resident, Joe Raine, even received an autograph.

One resident commented, “He looks so much like Mrs Brown, the resemblance is incredible! He had such a great sense of humour and we loved how he joked around with us.”

The home is hoping that Brian will return to entertain everybody for National Care Home Open Day on April 21st.

Stoneleigh Care Home’s deputy manager, Susan Dodds, said, “Brian is in his seventies and still actively volunteers in the local community, specifically with Alzheimer’s as his late mother suffered with it.”

“He does charity runs and shows to raise money for that and Marie Curie.”

Stoneleigh Care Home is currently celebrating receiving a 9.6 average rating on the leading care-home-comparison website carehome.co.uk, one of the highest ratings given out to a British care home.

Founded in 2011, HC-One is dedicated to providing care tailored to the needs of each individual resident, within a company culture that emphasises kindness.
