Free theatre tickets for two family-friendly plays are up for grabs at County Durham libraries.

Junior members of Durham County Council libraries who attend a Toddler Time (under-fives) session before 22nd March can enter a prize draw for free tickets to see Zog at Durham City’s Gala Theatre on Saturday 30th March at 4.00 pm.

This play follows the adventures of Zog the Dragon as he burns, scorches and roars his way through Dragon School.

Zog – based on Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s much-loved book – will be enhanced by a folk-music score played by live musicians.

Junior library members attending Toddler Time sessions during April can enter a prize draw to win tickets to see Dear Zoo at the Gala Theatre on Wednesday 15th May at 3.30 pm.

Dear Zoo – which will feature puppets, music and plenty of audience interaction – is based on Roy Campbell’s best-selling book, which has sold over 8 million copies since it was first published in 1982.

Both prize draws can be entered through all Durham County Council libraries, including Consett and Stanley Libraries.

Durham County Council’s cabinet member for Transformation, Cllr Joy Allen, said, “These fantastic competitions are running in our libraries across the county.”

“All Durham County Council libraries offer regular Toddler Time sessions, where little ones can bring their adults along to listen to a story, sing a song or take part in crafts.”

“It’s free to join the library and, as a junior borrower, children of all ages can access a fantastic range of books, with all the current top picks and old favourites available to borrow and reserve.”

“Library members can also access a wonderful range of e-books and e-audiobooks online simply by downloading the Borrowbox app.”

Zog will be staged at Durham City’s Gala Theatre on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th March at various times of day. Tickets are priced at £13, £11 for concessions.

Dear Zoo will be staged at the Gala on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th May, with several performances each day. Tickets cost £12.50 and family tickets are available for £46.

You can purchase tickets by going to www.galadurham.co.uk, visiting the Gala Theatre’s box office or telephoning 03000 266 600.
