Consett’s Empire Theatre is set to provide music lovers with a nostalgic journey through the decades – thanks to a series of concerts celebrating great music from the 1950s to the 1980s.

On Friday 5th April at 7.30 pm, Memory Lane will whisk concertgoers through the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. This extravaganza will feature a talented array of singers, dancers and comedians, performing songs from the likes of Barry Manilow, Abba, Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline and many more.

Tickets for Memory Lane are priced at £15, £14 for concessions.

On Saturday 13th July at 7.30 pm, the Consett Empire will play host to Lipstick on Your Collar. A raging success in London’s West End, Lipstick on Your Collar promises to take you back to a time when “the jukebox roared and your feet didn’t touch the floor.”

Tickets for this celebration of the 1950s cost £21, £20 for concessions.

Moving on a decade, Cilla and the Shades of the 60s will be staged at the Empire on Tuesday 7th May at 7.30 pm. This show stars Liverpool-born Victoria Jones as Cilla Black and is a celebration of Cilla’s greatest hits. Tickets are priced at £21, £19 for concessions.

Another treat for lovers of the 1960s is The Magic of Motown, which will be performed in Consett on Friday 21st June at 7.30 pm. This spectacular show features some of the greatest hits by the greatest stars of the iconic Detroit record label.

Tickets for The Magic of Motown cost £23.50, £22.50 for concessions.

Fans of the 1960s and 1970s will love The Simon and Garfunkel Story. A full live band will perform the folk-rock duo’s greatest hits and the show will also feature huge projection photos and original film footage in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the iconic film The Graduate and its Simon-and-Garfunkel soundtrack.

Tickets for the show – which will be staged at the Empire on Thursday 25th April at 7.30 pm – are priced at £22, £21 for concessions.

Fans of guitar heroics will love Classic Clapton, a celebration of Eric Clapton’s life and career. Classic Clapton will be staged at the Consett Empire on Saturday 5th October at 7.30 pm and will include great performances of Eric’s hits such as Tears in Heaven, Wonderful Tonight, I Shot the Sheriff and Layla. Tickets are priced at £16.

A must-see show for fans of Elton John is The Rocket Man, which will be calling in at the Consett Empire on 23rd May at 7.30 pm. The show will feature all of Elton’s best-known hits, as well as a huge live band, flamboyant costumes and dazzling effects. Tickets cost £22.50, £21 for concessions.

A show for fans of Queen and Freddie Mercury will be staged in Consett on 10th May at 7.30 pm. The History of Queen – Starring Magic will recreate Freddie’s incredible vocals and Queen’s amazing musicianship. Tickets are priced at £22, £20 for concessions.

Fans of Wham! and George Michael will have a chance to relive the 1980s when The Best of Wham! calls at the Empire on Friday 20th September at 7.30 pm. This fantastic new show will recreate the very best of George, Andrew, Pepsi and Shirlie, and will also feature great costumes and choreography and a live band. Tickets cost £23.50.
