The next meeting of the Derwent Valley Partnership Board will be taking place on Wednesday 17th July 2019 from 6pm-8pm in Consett Salvation Army Hall, Sherburn Terrace, Consett, DH8 6ND.

This meeting will provide an opportunity for local residents to share their views on two key consultations which are:

  • Durham History Centre Phase 2 Consultation.
You may recall that in early 2018 a proposal for a Durham History Centre was published.Following approval by councillors in January 2019 to proceed, we are now at a second stage consultation seeking feedback on the high-level design and service proposals.Durham History Centre will bring into one central location the story of the history and heritage of the county, as told through historical records, photographs and objects. The proposals will bring Mount Oswald Manor House back into use, adding a high quality, visually appealing extension which will complement the existing building.

The extension will provide space for exhibitions, activities and events, which celebrate our County’s history, and secure home for the heritage collections. There will be an attractive destination café for all as well as a catering offer. There will be space to view original historic documents and objects both physically and digitally and a dedicated volunteer room. A classroom will expand access for children and schools countywide.

The existing Manor House will provide enhanced registration services.

Visit www.durham.gov.uk/consultation for more information on this exciting project, details of drop-in sessions and how you can share your views with us.

Alternatively, we will be attending the Derwent Valley Partnership Board meeting on Wednesday 17th July 2019, between 5.30pm and 6.00pm with our information stall and hard copy surveys for residents to complete.
The consultation runs until Sunday 28 July 2019.

An information stall and short survey will be available at the DVP Board meeting from 5.30pm – 6.00pm.

  • County Durham Vision 2035 – Our Future is Durham. This presentation will outline the newly proposed DCC vision which is that ‘County Durham is a place where there are more and better jobs, people live long and independent lives and our communities are well connected and supportive’.

The consultation will provide an opportunity for residents to explore the ambitions underpinning the vision and to share their views as to whether this is the right vision for the County!

We would very much welcome your attendance at the meeting so we can have some local input into the above consultations, if you would like to attend, we politely request that you book a seat in advance.

All of the Board meetings are open to members of the public to attend and everyone is welcome. Refreshments are provided and there are parking facilities adjacent to the main hall.
