There are several ways to help support the Eden Colliery Closure Day 2020 event, which due to current situation is going to be online

You can join the Leadgate Community History Club’s Facebook event page here.

Can you help?

1. Were you or any family members present on the last day at Stoney Heap, 18th July 1980, or just before the Consett Steelworks closed that September?

2. Do you have pictures of life at Eden Colliery during the time it was open and daily life in those times, including memories/pictures of attending the Big Meeting in Durham, or Eden Sports Days?

3. Were you in the Eden Colliery Brass Band?

If so, please get in touch.

Open Evening at Eden Miners Centre

Along with the Trustees of the Eden Miners Centre (The Chute) and the admin team of Leadgate Village, they are working to build an archive on Eden Colliery and, in due course, memory boxes and albums to be donated to local schools and care homes.

If you have duplicate copies of the Leadgate History Society books, please get in touch as we are trying to get a number of complete sets.
