The First event from the Dere Street Explore Facebook group which was set up as an online group at the start of Covid is now set up for Sat 14th May 2022.
We will be having an Explore Day at Ebchester.
There was an archaeological dig here in 1960’s and there was once a small museum (excitingly plans are being looked at to re-start a museum).
We will be based at Ebchester Community Centre from 9am-2pm so that access to facilities and refreshments throughout plus parking .
We will going to see if we can get evidence for a possible river crossing that might have been used by the Romans.
Having a guided tour of St Elba’s church which has some Roman items to see.
There will also be some displays in the centre including about the Roman Fort that was at Lanchester.
All are welcome .
