Durham County Council is hosting a free family fun event in Shildon on Saturday, in partnership with Shildon Town Council.
The town square will welcome circus performances and workshops, walkabout acts, an aerial show and workshop, as well as face painting from 11am to 3pm.
Funded by the council’s Towns and Villages programme, it is hoped the free event will help to attract more visitors to the town centre and create a vibrant atmosphere for families and local businesses alike.
It follows the success of street festivals which toured town centres across the county earlier this year, funded by the Government’s Welcome Back Fund.
Graham Wood, Durham County Council’s economic development manager, said: “We are excited to be able to bring a host of fun activities to Shildon this weekend. It is important that we work with our partners to support our high streets and offer more cultural opportunities to our residents.
“We would encourage people to go along and see these fantastic acts on Saturday. We’re also planning similar events across the county as we know this helps to attract more visitors to our high streets and ensure our towns remain vibrant places to visit.”
