Tell us about yourselves
We are an independent eye care service on Middle Street in Consett. We’re a small team of women, who all live in Consett. We’ve all worked in optics for many years, and one day, an opportunity opened up for us to have our own little practice.
Why did you want to open your own opticians?
We were so excited to have our own little place. We really wanted a place where we could add our own personal touch. We get on really well with each other, because we all have a similar work ethic. We wanted a nice little place, where everyone can feel really comfortable and welcome. It’s the kind of service we would want for ourselves.
What sets your service apart from others?
The main thing people find when they choose us, is that we don’t rush anyone.We spend a lot of time with you, trying to understand what your needs are, and doing a careful eye examination. Our google and facebook reviews speak for themselves: there is no hurry or pressure here. We offer longer appointments and a much calmer service. And we’ll spend as long as it takes to get things right!
What kind of spectacles do you offer?
As an independent, we are very lucky because we can hand-pick what lenses and frames we can offer. You see, everybody’s eyes are different, and our lifestyles can really affect what our needs are. Some of us enjoy intricate needlework, or maybe you like computer games, or your job might be more visually demanding.
It’s really important that your glasses help you to enjoy your life and work. So, we offer a huge variety of lenses for all sorts of different lifestyles. We offer budget-friendly options, all the way up to more specialised and bespoke lenses.
We work with both local companies and more specialist German-engineered designs as well, so we’ll definitely have something for everyone.
What response have you had from the people in Consett?
Oh my gosh, the people of Consett have been so supportive and loyal. The feedback, and encouragement we’ve had has blown us away! We’ve even had people travel in, from outside Consett, just for our service, which really makes our day.
This is why we love what we do. We want great eye care service to be available locally.
