On Saturday 27th September, 2pm to 6pm, Shotley Bridge Cricket Club will host a very special afternoon in support of Maya’s Law. This new campaign is working to close the gaps in child protection and make sure every child has the chance to grow up safe and supported.
Maya’s Law is named in memory of two-year-old Maya Chappell, a bright and fun-loving little girl whose story has touched hearts across the country. Out of tragedy comes a movement for change, and the hope that new laws will prevent future families from going through the same pain.
The campaign calls for better communication between schools, health services and local authorities, stronger accountability for safeguarding, and more protection for children in hidden or informal care. As the organisers say,
Maya’s Law is urgently needed to save lives, ensure accountability, and prevent future tragedies.
The “Night for Change” launch event will bring the community together with stalls, raffles, mystery bags and plenty more. Every signature and every donation helps build momentum and keeps Maya’s voice at the heart of this campaign.
