Dear Consett Readers,
This month, Consett in Focus celebrates more remarkable people that shape our community.
We begin with Prince Bishop Vets, who have been caring for our pets with compassion and skill since 1984. Led by Dr. Gillian Brown and supported by a dedicated team of vets and nurses, their story is one of commitment, kindness, and long-standing service to Consett.
We also bid a heartfelt farewell to Forsters (Radio and TV) – a true Consett institution since 1957. Simon, Louise and all the staff over the years have been pillars of our town, running the shop with dedication, knowledge, and warmth. As they move into retirement (though we doubt they’ll slow down much!), we thank them for their support, they’ve been in the magazine since day one and we wish them every success in this new chapter.
At Consett Magazine, we love sharing stories like these from the community. If you know someone who deserves recognition, we’d love to hear from you – just give us a call or send us a message: [email protected]
With Christmas just around the corner, now is the perfect time for local businesses to get noticed. We’re taking festive advertising bookings now – call us on 01207 438292 to secure your space and reach thousands of readers this season.
We visit Shotley Bridge Nursery School, where the team has embraced a Hygge-inspired approach to create warm, homely spaces that help children feel safe and inspired to learn.
We meet Wendy Hopps of Greencroft Bottling, who after 14 years continues to put people at the heart of one of our area’s biggest employers.
We shine a light on Jimmy Donaghy, whose tireless energy, generosity, and community spirit make him a driving force in Leadgate.
And we share the remarkable story of Fred Crowell, whose lifelong passion for boats, craftsmanship, and creativity.
With our very best wishes,
Barry Kirkham, on behalf of everyone at Firefly & Consett Magazine and all the brilliant people who help bring it to life.
