A beloved County Durham tradition is lighting up the skies once again, as Stanley Fireworks 2025 returns to Oakey Park this Sunday, 2โ€ฏNovember. Located just 15 minutes from Consett, Oakey Park in Stanley (postcode DH9 8AW) will transform into a bustling hub of light, music and entertainment; and itโ€™s completely free to attend.

Getting There from Consett

Travelling to Stanley Fireworks from Consett is easy by bus. Go North East runs the Service 78, connecting Consett Bus Station to Stanley Bus Station via Annfield Plain. You can also take Service 16 or 16B, depending on your timing. Oakey Park is just a short walk from Stanley Bus Station, making public transport a convenient choice for the evening.

Fireworks Set to โ€˜Anthems in the Skyโ€™

This yearโ€™s display carries an exciting theme: โ€œAnthems in the Skyโ€, promising a showstopping fireworks display choreographed to legendary songs and timeless tracks. Expect a high-energy fusion of colour and sound from 7โ€ฏpm onwards.

Gates open at 5โ€ฏpm, with the pre-show entertainment kicking off shortly after.


What to Expect on the Night

Organised by Stanley Events and funded by Stanley Town Council, this community event has drawn thousands since it first began in 2012, and 2025 looks set to be just as spectacular.

Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s lined up:

  • Live music from Charlotte Forman
  • DJ set and high-energy introductions from compere Luke โ€˜The Revolutionโ€™ Brown
  • Childrenโ€™s funfair rides and amusements
  • Street food vendors and a fully licensed bar

From banging tunes to tasty treats, thereโ€™s plenty to keep both kids and adults entertained well before the first firework launches.

  • Parking: On-street parking is available near Oakey Park, but spaces fill quickly โ€” aim to arrive early or consider car sharing.
  • Wrap up warm: November evenings in County Durham can be chilly. Bring layers, waterproofs and maybe a blanket if youโ€™ll be sitting on the grass.
  • Plan ahead: Identify entrances and exits when you arrive and be mindful of crowd movement during the show.
