Willow Burn Hospice marked 35 years of care in style with its first-ever Pre-Loved Fashion Show curated by Olivia Kiss, Manager at Willow Burn Boutique in Lanchester.
The free event on 11 September, made possible by funding from Durham County Council, celebrated sustainable fashion and community spirit, while shining a spotlight on Willow Burn’s three shops (Consett, Lanchester and Stanley) and online stores, which together generate 18% of the hospice’s annual income.
As well as the fashion show, guests on the evening enjoyed music from Ellie Caile, a selection of drinks and nibbles from the Willow Burn Catering Team and the opportunity to shop. £855.40 was raised on the evening from clothing sales, donations and raffle tickets, providing a welcome boost to hospice care in Derwentside.
Rachel Quince, Deputy Chief Executive and Head of Income Generation and Marketing, said:
“We are absolutely delighted with the success of our first Pre-Loved Fashion Show. It was a wonderful way to incorporate retail in our 35 year celebrations, while showcasing the creativity, generosity and spirit of our community. Every donation, every purchase and every raffle ticket sold makes a real difference and we are so grateful to everyone who supported the event, particularly the models who looked amazing on the evening. Watch this space for next year’s event.”
Special thanks to all of the people who made the event such a success including many familiar faces to the Consett community: Consett in Focus, Durham Youth Project, DW Media, Ellie Caile, Illustrated by Helen, Soul Street, The Glo House and all of the models who brought pre-loved fashion to life.
