Consett Rotary is set to launch the town’s first prostate cancer support group in January.
Currently, there is no such service available in the Consett and surrounding areas.
The group will be fully funded by Rotary and operated by its dedicated team of volunteers.
The group will hold its first meeting on Monday 12th January at 7.00pm at Consett Heart John Street Consett.
This is an opportunity for prostate cancer sufferers to get together with their peers to discuss their experiences in a supportive environment.
One in eight men will develop prostate cancer.

Prevention is better than cure and Rotary has produced a leaflet explaining the warning signs in an attempt to raise awareness and to encourage men to get a Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test at their GP surgery if they have any symptoms.
Anyone affected by prostate cancer is welcome to attend.
The group will meet monthly from January.
