Consett Town Centre is set to sparkle once again this December with the return of its much-loved Christmas event. Locals are invited to gather in Middle Street on Friday, 12 December, for an evening of festive cheer and community fun.
Festive Fun for the Whole Family
The celebration kicks off at 5.30pm, offering something for everyone. From live entertainment to seasonal surprises, the event promises to bring warmth and joy to Consett’s town centre. The evening will conclude with the Christmas tree lights switch-on at 7pm, a perfect way to get into the festive spirit.
One of the night’s highlights is the ever-popular Christmas jumper competition. Get your cosiest and quirkiest knitwear ready, the winner will receive a family ticket to see Sleeping Beauty at the Consett Empire Theatre. The prize has been generously donated by the Empire Theatre, adding a magical touch to the occasion.
Community Support
This free event has been made possible thanks to the generous support of Councillor Jackie Teasdale, Councillor Kenny Hope, Councillor Kathryn Rooney and Councillor Craig Marshall, using their Councillor Grants, along with backing from Durham County Council’s Regeneration, Economy and Growth service.

Spread the Word
Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to come along, enjoy the festivities, and share in the community spirit. Mark your calendar for 12 December, it’s going to be a brilliant evening in the heart of Consett.
