From Local Lad to “Santa Ste” – Celebrating 10 Years of Christmas Magic!
Leadgate’s very own Stephen Stonehouse has spent the last decade spreading festive cheer as Santa Ste — but his journey started with a twist of fate!
Ten years ago, while buying a guitar for his son, Stephen stopped by a glamping site near Derwent Reservoir — they needed a Santa, and he said yes.
Since then, he’s gone from a borrowed red suit to fully bespoke hand-made costume, a real beard, and a heart full of Christmas spirit.
This year marks 10 years of Santa Ste, and he celebrated with a Charity Variety Show at The Roxy on Friday 28th & Saturday 29th November. He is also re-releasing his charity Christmas CD, featuring a bonus track by 15-year-old Layla Naugher with “Christmas Always Finds Me.” Funds raised will support two causes close to his heart: Willow Burn Hospice, where his beloved mum spent her final days and Callie’s Heart Campaign, gifting joy to children awaiting heart surgery at Freeman Hospital.
Santa Ste’s story is one of kindness, community, and Christmas spirit all year round — proof that magic can start with the simplest of moments and touch countless lives.
