We’re delighted to share that long-time Consett Magazine contributor Lorraine Weightman has published her debut novel, Good Company, a moving work of fiction set in a North East steel town during the 1970s. Filled with cultural detail and heartfelt storytelling, the novel captures the rhythms of daily life in an era of great change.
To mark the occasion, Lorraine will be hosting a book launch at Together Lounge, 70 Medomsley Road, Consett, on Sunday 1st February at 2pm. Guests can look forward to a warm afternoon featuring book readings, a Q&A session, and the opportunity to purchase signed copies. Refreshments will also be available, making for a relaxed and welcoming community event.
The novel’s inspiration began with a short story Lorraine wrote many years ago, titled Up A Height, which she later developed into this full-length story. The book’s cover has been beautifully illustrated by Fr John Bagnall, adding a personal touch to the finished piece.
