January may be cold and dark, but wassailing brings warmth, hope, and community spirit.
Rooted in ancient tradition, orchard wassailing is all about waking the trees, chasing away winter spirits, and wishing for a healthy harvest ahead.

On a bright, sunny day, we gathered, with members of Lanchester Community Orchard, led by their Green Man, with fantastic musicians and dancers. They sang, made plenty of joyful noise, and fed the trees cider and bread to encourage a bumper apple crop. (They also sampled the harvest of last year – a wonderful warm spiced Cider drink)
Huge thanks to everyone who helped keep this beautiful tradition alive. Here’s to luck, light, and a fruitful harvest in September!
