Meet Sue Spencer, owner of Those Who Wander — a characterful shop filled with vintage homeware, books and curiosities.

Born in Consett, Sue trained as a nurse at Leeds General Hospital and spent 24 years working across NHS and private healthcare before returning to the North East as a Community Mental Health Nurse.

Around a decade ago, she discovered a love of vintage through book and antique fairs, car boot sales and eventually her first shop, Celestial Moon, in Consett. After closing it due to serious illness, Sue opened Those Who Wander in Lanchester in June 2025 following treatment. Despite ongoing pain, the shop gives her purpose and joy, supported by the warmth of the local community. From vintage Tarot cards and children’s books to toys, crockery, glassware and curious finds, there’s something for everyone.

A shop with soul, stories — and a truly inspiring owner.
