Local runner Natasha Pollock completed the Tokyo Marathon last month on the 1st March 2026, raising funds for the charity Street Child, with strong support from the community back home.

So far, Natasha has raised £1,500 plus Gift Aid, with further backing from Specsavers Consett helping push the fundraising total towards her £4,000 goal. The final stage of the campaign now focuses on gaining local community support to help reach the target.

Natasha described the marathon as an incredible experience. The race went well and she thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, taking time along the route to thank everyone who supported her journey.

With the finish line crossed in Tokyo last month, the focus now turns to the final fundraising push to support Street Child’s work helping vulnerable children access education and opportunity.
