Like many people, Steph Leithrow’s plans changed during Covid.

When her parents retired, Steph stepped in to take over Country Homes and Gifts, a much-loved shop in the heart of Lanchester. With mum Susan always on hand to help, the business remains very much a family affair.

The shop is a staple of village life, offering greeting cards and gifts for every occasion, and a warm welcome for locals and visitors alike.

On sunny days, tables outside create a lively village hub, linking the shop with the neighbouring café and encouraging people to stop, browse and enjoy the atmosphere.

A long-time Lanchester resident, Steph feels a deep connection to the area—especially Dora’s Wood, planted by local schoolchildren, including Steph herself. That sense of community is at the heart of everything she does.
