Second Show Home Opens at Valley Rise, Consett
St. Modwen Homes has unveiled its second show home in the North East as part of its plan to build 100 new homes across the region this year. The four-bedroom Cedargate show home at Valley Rise, Consett, officially opened back on 25 April, following the launch of the company’s first regional show home at Seaham Garden Village less than a month earlier.
The opening weekend attracted over 100 visitors, reflecting strong local interest. A third show home is scheduled to open at Woodcroft Park, Sunderland, in June, signalling the housebuilder’s commitment to expanding its presence in the North East throughout 2026.
Design and Features of the Cedargate Show Home
The Cedargate is a detached, four-bedroom property designed to cater to modern living. It features an open-plan kitchen, dining, and family area that opens onto the garden via French doors, alongside a dual-aspect living room. Upstairs, the principal bedroom is designed as a private suite with space for seating and dressing, offering a sense of luxury. Two children’s bedrooms have been themed to encourage creativity, with one inspired by a farmyard and the other by a skater motif.
Harry McMullen, Sales Manager at St. Modwen Homes, described the Cedargate as “a stunning, modern house type” and encouraged prospective buyers from across the region to visit the show home and see the quality of St. Modwen’s designs firsthand.
Development Details and Pricing
Valley Rise comprises 106 homes ranging from three to five bedrooms, with prices between £220,000 and £443,000. Since launching in late 2025, the development has already sold 50% of the available homes for this year.
St. Modwen Homes is offering a range of incentives, including Assisted Move, Part Exchange, and a 5% deposit contribution. Additionally, reservations made before the end of April will receive £2,000 towards home upgrades. For some buyers, deposits of up to £22,000 may be covered as part of launch offers.
Location and Lifestyle Benefits
Valley Rise is located within easy reach of local schools and amenities, set against the backdrop of the rolling hills and villages of County Durham. It offers convenient access to nearby cities such as Durham, Sunderland, and Newcastle, combining countryside tranquillity with urban connectivity.
Harry McMullen emphasised the development’s appeal, highlighting the quality of life on offer alongside competitive pricing and attractive incentives. He noted that Valley Rise provides a unique combination of sustainable, high-quality homes in a desirable location.
Outlook for St. Modwen Homes in the North East
Since beginning operations in the North East last year, St. Modwen Homes has experienced strong demand for its developments. The company’s acquisition by Miller Homes in February 2025 has further supported its growth ambitions in the region.
With three show homes now open or soon to open, and a significant number of new homes planned, St. Modwen Homes is positioned for a successful year in the North East housing market.
