Consett Lions Launch Annual Town Raffle – Strengthening Community Spirit Across Consett

-

Consett Lions Club has announced the return of its popular Annual Town Raffle, with the grand draw set to take place on 17 September 2026 at Steel Club.

A long-standing highlight of the local calendar, the raffle brings together residents, businesses and community groups to raise funds for those in need while celebrating the strong community spirit that defines Consett.

For generations, Consett Lions have been dedicated to helping neighbours near and far—supporting local families, contributing to community projects, and responding to wider national and international needs. The Town Raffle plays a vital role in funding this work, ensuring the Lions can continue making a meaningful difference throughout the year.

A Fundraiser That Gives Back to Local Groups

This year, the Lions are once again inviting local groups, clubs, churches, and organisations to take part in selling raffle tickets through the popular 70/30 fundraising split. For every £1 ticket sold, the group keeps £0.70—a simple and effective way to raise funds with no upfront costs.

Last year’s raffle saw fantastic participation from groups including local churches, 1st Blackhill Consett Scouts, and Spotlight Theatre Group, all of whom benefited directly from the funds they raised. The Lions hope even more groups will join in this year, turning the raffle into a true community-wide effort.

Local Businesses Helping to Make a Difference

Businesses across Consett and the surrounding area are already stepping forward with generous prize donations—from family experiences to special treats and unique local offerings. Each prize represents not just a chance to win something memorable, but a symbol of the kindness and community spirit that define our town.

Supporting the Work That Matters

Every ticket purchased helps fund the Lions’ ongoing projects, including welfare support for vulnerable residents, youth initiatives, community events, and emergency assistance. The impact of the raffle reaches far beyond the draw night, supporting real people and real needs throughout the year.

Get Involved

Whether you’d like to buy tickets, donate a prize, or register your group to sell tickets on the 70/30 split, the Lions would love to hear from you.

To arrange tickets or discuss prize donations, please contact Richard Judd, Secretary of Consett Lions, at [email protected]

As the draw date approaches, excitement is building. The Lions extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who has already contributed and look forward to welcoming the community on 17th September 2026 for an evening of celebration, generosity, and shared purpose.

Together, we can make this year’s Town Raffle the most successful yet, continuing the proud tradition of helping others.
