Supporters of Willow Burn Hospice came together recently for the charity’s annual Gala, helping to raise an incredible £22,000 to support local people living with life-limiting illnesses. The event, held at the South Causey Inn and hosted by North East comedian Steffen Peddie, was filled with generosity, community spirit and heartfelt support for the hospice.
The amount raised is enough to fund more than 1,100 hours of nursing care, making a real difference to patients and families across County Durham.
Rachel Quince, Deputy Chief Executive and Head of Fundraising & Marketing, said:
“As a small hospice, we rely on the kindness of our community. The Gala is a wonderful celebration of our team’s work and the supporters who make it possible. Every pound raised helps us continue to provide compassionate care when people need it most.”
A major boost to the total came from Berry’s Jewellers, the event’s headline sponsor, which donated two beautiful pieces of diamond jewellery for the raffle. This helped raise £5,000 and brought Berry’s total support for the hospice to over £30,000 in four years.
