Readers, writers and poetry lovers are invited to a special afternoon celebrating local talent as Consett Writers presents its Authors Showcase on Saturday June 6, from 12pm to 4pm at Consett Heart Arts and Heritage on John Street.
The event will feature opportunities to meet local authors, enjoy poetry readings, join book discussions and browse books for sale from a range of North East writers.
Among the featured authors is Alex Hewlett, showcasing Stella’s Legacy, alongside Lorraine Weightman with Good Company.
Author Margaret Armstrong will also be attending with titles including The Yearning of the Yew, Some Sort of Penance and Big Billy’s Black Gate.
Historical fiction readers can meet Argent Wood, author of the trilogy:
- In the Company of Friends
- Aniketos
- Kings and Traitors
The showcase will also include Ben Grantham with Telegraph to the Past, and Jordan Amar, presenting Twilight Collection Vol 1 and Vol 2 alongside October Moon.
Poet Steve Wood will be bringing his chapbooks:
- Awful Pamphlet, Mediocre Poems Lovely Bloke Vol 1
- Awful Pamphlet, Mediocre Poems, Lovely Bloke Vol 2: A Bit of Politics
The free community event offers a chance to support local writers, discover new books and enjoy an afternoon of creativity in the heart of Consett.
