Derwentside Mind Staff

 

Recently Derwentside Mind celebrated it’s 30 years anniversary. To mark the occasion they held an Open Day.
Staff and volunteers were on hand to answer any questions and provide information on the services offered by the charity.
‘Consett Writers’ who meet each Thursday at Derwentside Mind performed extracts from their work throughout the day while other activities including, quizzes,Tombola, stalls, free goodie bags, helped make the event enjoyable and fun packed.

In September Lynne Miller from Groundwork provided free sessions showing easy cheap ways of growing your own food. Herb boxes, greens, winter salad and turnips were planted and brought home.
Derwentside Mind provides practical and emotional support for people of all ages. If you suffer from feelings of anxiety, confusion, depression, loneliness and feel unable to cope they can help.
They offer a range of services including 11 talking therapies which include Counselling, NLP, Hypnotherapy, Life Coaching and Anger Awareness. which can help you explore aspects of your life, find balance, fulfilment and gain a more effective process for living.
Also on offer are: Social Access Groups, Internet Cafe, Holistic Therapies and Wellbeing Courses which include ways of dealing with anxiety and building confidence.

To help raise funds Derwentside Mind and are running a Jam Jar Army Campaign. It couldn’t be simpler. Fill a jar with loose change and drop it into their office to help them reach their £1000 target.

As of October 2014 they have already raised £898.66 from local generosity. As with any charity they are always looking for volunteers to help deliver their services so if you feel you feel you can help they would love to hear from you.
