LloydsPharmacy provides services at the heart of the community that are designed to complement GPs and other healthcare 
professionals. Our store in Consett is a designated ‘Healthy Living Pharmacy’, which means we are part of a national framework promoting health and providing proactive health advice in the community. We offer a wide range of free services to help local people stay healthy:
Look after your heart health
We believe that maintaining a healthy heart is vital. Heart disease remains the UK’s biggest killer with around 103,000 heart attacks every year in the UK. We can offer blood pressure checks and cholesterol tests to assess your risk of developing heart disease over the next ten years and if you come in for a check-up, the team will also provide you with lifestyle advice to help you stay healthy.
Free diabetes checks
We are also committed to providing Type 2 diabetes risk assessments. It is estimated that up to 7 million people are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes in the UK. Our Type 2 diabetes service provides a quick, easy and free way to find out if you are at risk of developing the condition. A trained member of staff will provide you with advice and if necessary, check your blood glucose levels with a simple blood test. If we find that you are in an at-risk group, we can give you advice on how to reduce your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes in the next ten years.
Support with your medicines
A key part of our work is giving advice about medicines. Some people may need help managing their medicines so we offer a free medicines check-up service to help them understand the treatment they are receiving. We also offer a repeat prescription service, which means that you can collect your medicines when you need them.
